Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) homeopathic treatment
Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic form of arthritis affecting the joints in the spine and the sacroilium in the pelvis. Larger joints like the knee can also be affected. It is initially characterized by pain and stiffness of the lower back, followed by severe rigidity of the spine due to fusion of the spinal vertebrae (bamboo spine). The pain may radiate from the lower back to the buttock or the back of the thighs in its early stages and generally increases on rest, and improves with physical activity.Causes: Ankylosing spondylitis is considered to be an autoimmune disease though the responsible autoantibody has so far not been pin pointed. Stages of AS: Ankylosing spondilitis is regarded as an autoimmune condition in which inflammation of the ligaments and joints of the spine and sacroilium results in deposition of bone tissue. The tissue overtime fuses the bones causing rigidity and immobility of the spine and hip joints. The Joint degeneration and fusion is a chronic process and if appropriate measures like exercise, proper posture and homeopathic medicines are introduced early, the condition can be prevented from worsening.
